About the blog

This site began as a course blog for a seminar I taught in 2015 called “Truth in Media.”

I’ve since re-named and retooled the site to share out glimpses into the classes, student work, and educational philosophy of Loudoun School for the Gifted.

The site name, “Essential Questions,” refers to the organizing principle of our classes: intellectually-worthwhile, broadly-resonant inquiry that transcends any particular course or text. I also mean to suggest that we are still in the process of continually questioning, experimenting with and reflecting on our work as teachers and administrators.
